Aadhaar Card is a unique identification number provided by the Government of India to all the citizens of India. This is issued by the UIDAI or Unique Identification Authority of India. Every citizen has to enroll for the Aadhaar and it acts as the proof of identification and also the residential proof. One needs to go to nearest Aadhaar Enrolment center for the enrolment and biometric process. Once the process is done, it can be downloaded online and printed. This is called as the e-Aadhaar.
It is easy and it is just a three-step process. In case you have misplaced your card, you can also download the e-Aadhaar and the same can be printed and used as Aadhaar Card. Downloading Aadhaar is relatively easier and can be downloaded by any means. The e-Aadhaar website by UIDAI has many means to download the Aadhaar card. Interestingly, the e-Aadhaar is as relevant as the original PVC card. Here are the different ways to download the e-Aadhaar.
Simple Steps to Get the e-Aadhaar Card Download
- Visit the website of e-Aadhaar (UIDAI website)
- Choose either of the radio button Aadhaar or Enrolment Number
- Enter the Aadhaar Number or the Enrolment ID and all other details such as the PIN Code, Registered Mobile Number, and others
- Click on the designated button for the “Get One Time Password”
- The mobile number that registered with the Aadhaar card should receive the OTP or One Time Password
- You need to put the OTP on the website and then click on the Validate and download button
- The-E-Aadhaar Card will be downloaded to your local drive and you can take a print of the same.
Now let’s take all the options available for the e-Aadhaar one by one
Download Aadhaar Card by the Aadhaar Number
Aadhaar Card can be downloaded by accessing the official website of the UIADI or the e-Aadhaar website. The Government has made it very simple to get a copy of the Aadhaar card by simpler means. Interestingly, an e-Aadhaar or copy of the Aadhaar Card is as valid as hard bind Aadhaar card which you will receive through the postal medium.
Once you have enrolled with the Aadhaar, you are provided with an acknowledgment slip. It has the Enrolment Number and time stamp. You may also know your UID that is Unique Identification Number or the Aadhaar Number. You can use your EID to obtain the e-Aadhaar by following the following steps.
Step 1: Navigate to the UIDAI website to download the Aadhaar card. You can click here or copy and paste the following link your browser. The link to the website is https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Once page loads, you will see two options on top of the page. The first step is to click on Aadhaar Radio Button in the first step.
Step 2: Now, the next step is to enter the Aadhaar Number. This is the 12 digit UID that you have in the format of 1234/1234/1234.This is a mandatory field.
Step 3: Once you have entered the Aadhaar number, you need to enter the Full Name of the Aadhaar Cardholder and this needs to be followed by the Pin Code in the next column. Your Full Name should match as per the Aadhaar records. The PIN Code should also be the same that you have used during the Aadhaar enrolment.
Step 4: In the next column, you need to enter the security code from the image displayed above. If you are unable to read out the image then you can always change it by clicking the refresh button right next to it.
Step 5: The next step is to click on Get One Time Password Button. Once you have clicked on the button, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. If you already have the OTP then click on the radio button “Do You Have OTP”. You can then directly put the OTP without generating it again. However, you need to know that the OTP generated is received at the registered mobile number only. In case the number is not in use, you need to change the mobile number first by updating the Aadhaar Card.
Step 6: Enter the mobile number in the next column which is meant for OTP and click on Validate and Download button. If all the details entered by you are correct, the Aadhaar card will be downloaded and saved in the default download folder.
Step 7: The Aadhaar will be downloaded in a PDF file and the file is protected by the password. The password of the file was the Pin Code of your residential address but now it is changed. If you name is Amit and you are born in 1990. Then your password will be first four later of your name in capital letter and the birth of year for example “AMIT1990”. After submitting this password, you can simply access you Aadhaar card by entering the details.
How to download Aadhaar Card with Name and Date of Birth
As said the Aadhaar Card can be downloaded online and you need not wait for the hardcopy. But what if you don’t have the UID or the EID (Enrolment Identification Number)? Well, there is nothing to worry as the e-Aadhaar Card can be downloaded with your Name and the Date of Birth as well. Here are the steps to download a copy of the Aadhaar card using the name and the date of birth.
Step 1: Visit the official website of the UIDAI or click at the following link https://resident.uidai.gov.in/find-uid-eid
Step 2: Enter the following details
And Security code displayed right next to the text box. You need to ensure that all the details match with the Aadhaar enrolment process. In case of any mismatch with the UIADI database, your record will not be retrieved.
Step 3: You now need to click on the Send OTP button.
Step 4: You will receive the OTP in your registered mobile number. This OTP should be entered in the Enter OTP text box.
Step 5: Click on the Verify OTP button.
Step 6: You will now receive your Enrolment Identification Number and the Time Stamp in your registered mobile number.
Step 7: Now visit the e-Aadhaar website or click here https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/#/
Step 8: Select the – I have the “Enrolment ID” radio button
Step 9: Enter the 14 digit EID with the following format 1234/12345/12345 along with the Time Stamp as received through SMS
Step 10: Enter your Full Name and PIN Code. Ensure that the details match with the records you provided during the Aadhaar card enrolment
Step 11: Enter the Image shown in the text box displayed. If you have any difficulty to understand the image, you can always change it by clicking the refresh button
Step 12: If you have the OTP then click on the radio button Do You have the OTP and enter the OTP for the e-Aadhaar download
Step 13: If you do not have the OTP then click on the Get One Time Password. You will receive the OTP in your registered mobile number. In case you don’t receive the OTP click on the Resend One Time Password.
Step 14: You need to enter the OTP and then click on the Validate and Download button
Step 15: Your Aadhaar Card will be downloaded in the default folder of your device
Step 16: It opens as Password protected PDF file which can be opened with the following password.
The FIRST FOUR letter of your Name and Year of Birth
Example: Name: SURESH KUMAR and YEAR OF BIRTH: 1990
However, you need to ensure that the FIRST FOUR LETTERS are in CAPITAL LETTER
You can then print the copy.
Download the Aadhaar Card by the Enrolment Identification Number
The e-Aadhaar download requires either UID or EID. In case you don’t have the UID then you can download the Aadhaar card with the 14 digit EID along with the Time Stamp as received in the Acknowledgement Slip. Following are the steps to follow
Step 1: Navigate to the UIDAI website or click on this link https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/#/
Step 2: You need to select the I have Enrolment ID radio button for going ahead with the e-Aadhaar download with your EID
Step 3: Enter your 14 digit Enrolment Number in the format 1234/12345/12345 along with the Time Stamp as provided in the acknowledgment slip.
Step 4: You need to enter the Full Name and PIN. Make sure that the records do match with the records provided during the Aadhaar registration.
Step 5: You need enter the Security Captcha image and click on the Get One Time Password button for OTP. You can change the image if you are not sure of it.
Step 6: If you have the OTP then click on the radio button right after the DO YOU Have the OTP and enter it. However, if you do not have then click on the Get One Time Password button. You will receive the OTP in your registered mobile number. If you do not get that then you can click on the Resend One Time Password.
Step 7: Validate and Download button should be clicked once you have entered the OTP.
Step 8: Your Aadhaar Card will be downloaded in the PDF format. However, the file will be password protected. Here would be your password.
Password: FIRST FOUR LETTERS of your NAME followed by your YEAR OF BIRTH.
NAME: MAHESH KUMAR YEAR of BIRTH: 1986
Ensure that the FIRST FOUR LETTERS should be in CAPITAL.
You can then take a print copy of the e-Aadhaar.
How to take the Print of the Aadhaar Card
Taking the print of the Aadhaar Card is easy. Once you have downloaded the PDF. You have to click on the “Print” icon or press CTRL+P on your keyboard. You have to align your configured printer and hit the print button. However, if you do not have any printer then take the soft copy on a pen drive and take a print out from the cyber café.
This process is helpful if you are obtaining your Aadhaar first time or you are obtaining a duplicate Aadhaar card.
