Aadhaar card is often used as an age proof in certain cases and even when Aadhaar is used as an Identity proof, it is required to verify the date of birth of a person. In such a case it is important that the Aadhaar Card has the correct date of birth on it. It is observed that in some cases, the Aadhaar card of the people is printed with the wrong date of birth. It may be because of the typing error of the UIDAI’s representative or it can be because of the error in filling the enrolment form. In any such scenario, it becomes important to update the Aadhaar Card with the correct detail. The good part is that you do not have to visit the Aadhaar Centre to get the date of birth updated but you can do that by sitting in comfort of your home. If your date of birth on Aadhaar Card is not correct, follow the steps mentioned below to make the corrections and get a new updated Aadhaar Card.
Steps to Correct the Date of Birth on Aadhaar Card
The first step for correction of date of birth is visiting the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal. You can visit the portal by clicking here. Or alternatively, you can type the following link in the address bar of your browser. The link to the Self Service Update Portal is https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/update.
Once the portal loads, you will be asked for your Aadhaar number. Enter the Aadhaar number in the relevant box along with the captcha security code. Now click on Send OTP button on the same page.
On clicking the button, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and click on submit button. You will now be redirected to Data Update Request Centre.
On the Data Update Request Page, click on the radio button corresponding to the date of birth and click on update button. You will not be prompted to add the correct date of birth.
Enter the correct date of birth and click on submit button. Now you will be prompted to upload the relevant documents supporting the change of date of birth. Upload the document and click on update data button.
On clicking the Update Data button, you will be redirected to a new page where a Unique request Number will be displayed. You may note down the request number for future reference and the request will be processed in two week time. Upon successful processing of the request, your new Aadhaar card will be dispatched to your residential address.
In case you do not have access to your phone number or you have not registered your mobile number, you would have to visit the nearest enrollment centre to register your mobile number and update your Aadhaar Card. There is no charge for the same and after the request has been processed, you can even download your Aadhaar Card through online medium.
